Office romance often is one of the prime Reasons behind Interpersonal conflict. It is also known as corporate affair executive circles. When a romantic relationship ensues between two person who have the same place of work, it is often termed as Office romance. Romance in Office is not at all a new phenomenon, and many relationships have grown from Office romance. The range of this kind of romance is quite wide, romantic relationship can be shared between a top official of an organization and an intern. Other Office romance includes relationships between boss and P.A., CEO and a board member, representative of a company and a client, office colleagues, and many more. Often such liaisons are misused or even interpreted as a form of “sexual harassment”.

A lot of problem may arise out of such relationships. Most of the times, Office romance is not encouraged in many organizations. It is considered to be unhealthy for the growth of an organization. The effectiveness of the organization and the concentration of the involved individuals are doubted. It is often considered to be a distraction to the company or organization. In many companies, policies are in place to discourage Office romance.
It is often a notion that an employee is gaining advantage by having a relationship with the boss or a superior executive of the organization, and this is not very welcomed in an atmosphere of competitiveness. It is often a mean to step to advance one's career, but people very much engage in these sorts of “give and take” relationship. A better position in the organization is guaranteed by being intimate with a superior official. Many men and women are exploited in this way, and they have no one to blame but themselves. Many surveys have revealed that Office romance is gradually on the rise and many are taking unfair advantages of it. Office romance not only comprises relationships between opposite sex, but heterosexual or same sex relationships too. If it is for personal gains, it is considered as a perverse kind of relationship. Many such romances have very dreadful endings and those who are on the wrong side of the fence, or in other words are in a less privileged position in the organization, have to face the heat and are often sacked from the organization.
Many people think that Office romance can occur as men and women have to spend a majority of their time with their colleagues in the office. People sharing interests that are common often leads to the development of romantic relationships. Attraction and attachment also plays a very important role in such relationships. Sometimes it becomes almost impossible to spend time with someone as a person has to spend 8-12 hours per day in the office. The only persons that one is attached to or can interact with are the office people. This gives rise to Office romance. However, an extramarital affair often takes shape in Office romance. This leads to difficulties in marital relationships and disturbances in domestic bliss.
